Highlighting any problems with high voltage equipment is a valuable and diffi cult capability. Many such problems will result in UV discharges. These can be identifi ed at an early stage by using UV detection systems, The CoroCAM range, developed by the CSIR in South Africa, has been used for identifying UV corona and surface discharges, for the last ten years. CoroCAM provides video images of the UV discharges and can be used in operations at night (CoroCAM I), during the day (CoroCAM 504) and from the air (gimbal-mounted AirCAM).

The CoroCAM 504 model brings to market a user-friendly and effi cient detection system. Solar-blind daylight UV detection as well as image processing and storage come packed in a single lightweight hand-held unit. The release of a hand-held, multi-spectral imaging system adds an infrared dimension to complete the product range. The multi-spectral camera is able to detect, locate and display both ultraviolet and infra-red radiation from electrical equipment.

Customers include electrical utilities, industrial end-users and industry service providers. The CSIR uses a network of international distributors to facilitate the sales and servicing of the CoroCAM products.

The new CoroCAM 504 Daylight Corona Detection Camera is the latest inspection system designed to assist you in detecting your corona problems on high voltage equipment. This product, developed in partnership with Eskom, complements the CoroCAM range of day and night viewing systems and represents a significant upgrade on the previous daylight system.
